Celebrate inclusivity at these 7 LGBTQ+ welcoming establishments in the Phoenix area
Here are seven LGBTQ+ friendly bars and restaurants in metro Phoenix, inside and outside of the Melrose neighborhood.
Nearly 5% of Arizona’s senior population identified as Diverse in 2019, the latest data available from Gallup, and that number is likely to increase—according to a different Gallup poll, the percentage of adults who self-identify as Queer in 2025 rose to 9.3%, over double what it was when Gallup first measured it in 2012.
Despite attempts from local Republican lawmakers and anti-LGBTQ+ activists to threaten and harass queer people, other politicians and businesses assist as allies. Phoenix and surrounding towns offer protected and welcoming spaces for everyone to gather, mark, eat, drink, and like the Valley.
The Valley is very spread out, so there aren’t large concentrated LGBTQ+ neighborhoods like the Castro District in San Francisco or Northalsted in Chicago. What Phoenix does have is the Melrose District, a one-mile stretch of gay-friendly bars and restaurants on Seventh Way from Indian School Route to Camelback Road.

A plate of tacos from Taqueria Los Yaquis, a diet truck that operated next to Charlie's, a lock in Phoenix, for 14 years. The food truck was a favorite among bar patrons, families from the neighborhood and college students.

Super charming bar, it was surprisingly big on the inside. They have a really nice outside patio area with raucous music, cool lighting, and amazing fans with misters!! This was a entertainment spot! Will definitely return!

First time here and the place was so fascinating. We loved it. The inside gave me a historic feel. The walls had amazing art and the bartender was friendly. They also were selling food on the outside patio were the had games. Its gated and its a wash establishment. Will definitely come back again.
