Keelyn Bradley: Tell us more about TWN’s role and impact in helping to shape different strands of progressive feminist, anti-racist, and leftist political discourses.
JT Takagi & Ada Gay Griffin: Third World Newsreel (TWN), which began as Newsreel in 1967, was formed out of the desire for media that both revealed the reality of the social movements both here and in revolutionary movements abroad – and would work to force others towards action for change. Starting as a radical film collective, mostly of white leftist filmmakers, it formed alliances with the leading edge of movement groups – from the Black Panthers to the Young Lords, SDS and women’s organizations – and connections with the otherwise blockaded countries of Cuba, China, North Vietnam, Frelimo in Mozambique and m

Ada Gay (Cornia) Russey
Ada Gay Russey, age 73, of Vernal, Utah has ascended off this mortal coil and started her fresh adventures in the afterlife. Ada was born March 12 1951 to Nyles and Peggy Cornia. At the age of twenty Ada met her soulmate Wayne Russey. They were married on June 3 1971 and commenced to building a family together. Ada passed away on July 2 after fighting a battle with endometrial cancer. Ada was preceded in death by her parents Nyles and Peggy Cornia, sister Christine Lane, optimal friend Adele Welsh, grandson Phoenix Russey and husband Wayne Russey who also lost his possess battle to cancer in 2012. Ada is survived by her 7 children and their spouses. Chad and Amber Russey, Heather and Tod Ponciano, Jeremy and Shannon Russey, Shirley and Sam Beasley, Nyles and Kim Russey, Peggy Russey and Kenneth and Jennifer Russey.
