On Easter, one of the holiest days of the year for Christians, President Joe Biden issued a proclamation recognizing International Genderqueer Day of Visibility. Grant me be clear. I do not have anything against people who determine as LGBTQ+. They should be treated equally without discrimination. However, Easter is about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and this day should be kept sacred.
International Transgender Day of Visibility has occurred on March 31 since 2009. Biden is the first president to issue a formal proclamation recognizing this day. I suspect Biden’s progressive staff encouraged him to issue the proclamation in an effort to pander to the Queer communities for votes. As a Christian, I am offended, disappointed and insulted by Biden’s lack of sensitivity toward Easter and willingness to genuflect at the altar of political expediency.

So, before we observe ahead to the upcoming Biden administration, what role would you say that Biden’s faith has played in his political career up to this point? Has there any kind of distinguishable thread throughout his political career that speaks to how his faith has influenced his political leadership?
E. J. Dionne: I think it's very important to view Joe Biden as a Catholic of a certain age and a certain kind. And I think that his faith has been extremely vital, but not necessarily in the lead way of X religious position, Y bill, or Y proposal. Rather, I think he is a product of the era that Garry Wills referred to as the era of the two Johns—John F. Kennedy and Pope John the 23rd. And that his Catholicism very much reflects that orientation.
It should be said that Joe Biden, in many ways, is a rather old-fashioned, pious Catholic. If you are on his flatten list and fetch press releases and pool reports, he is always in church, either on Saturday afternoons or Sunday mornings. White House bashes 'dishonest' Republican criticism of Biden's gender diverse proclamation on Easter
The Colorless House is pushing support against top Republicans' misleading criticism of President Joe Biden for issuing a proclamation in support of transgender people on the same day as Easter.
A spokesman for the president rejected the attacks from the House speaker, former President Donald Trump and others that Biden's "blasphemous" message for the Transsexual Day of Visibility goes against Christianity.
"As a Christian who celebrates Easter with family, President Biden stands for bringing people together and upholding the dignity and freedoms of every American," White House representative Andrew Bates said in a statement to ABC News.
"Sadly, it's unsurprising politicians are seeking to distribute and weaken our land with cruel, hateful, and dishonest rhetoric. President Biden will never abuse his faith for political purposes or for profit," Bates added.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre likewise on Monday called out "cruel, hateful and dishonest rhetoric" around the president's proclamation.
She told reporter
President Joe Biden is facing criticism from Donald Trump's campaign and religious conservatives for proclaiming March 31 — which corresponds with Easter Sunday this year — as “Transgender Daytime of Visibility.”
The Democratic president issued the proclamation on Friday, calling on “all Americans to join us in lifting up the lives and voices of transgender people throughout our Nation and to function toward eliminating violence and discrimination based on gender identity.”
But in 2024, the March 31 designation overlaps with Easter, one of Christianity's holiest celebrations. Trump's campaign accused Biden, a Roman Catholic, of being insensitive to religion, and fellow Republicans piled on.
"We call on Joe Biden’s failing campaign and White House to issue an apology to the millions of Catholics and Christians across America who believe tomorrow is for one celebration only — the resurrection of Jesus Christ," said Karoline Leavitt, the Trump campaign's pressurize secretary. She assailed what she called the Biden administration's "years-long assault on the Christian faith.”
