George Carlin’s Brother Patrick, Comedian & Woodstock Resident, Dies at 90
It’s almost weird that I’m writing this article on 4/20. Because I remember listening to Patrick Carlin’s Commentary on one of our local radio stations at 4:20 on weekday afternoons. Patrick was a big fan of 4:20, and he was also a hell of a funny guy. His radio second always brought a smile to my face. And I had no plan that he was George Carlin’s brother. I just knew that he was a smart and funny guy who’s last name happened to be Carlin. I never even thought of George.
When I found out that Patrick Carlin was George’s great brother, I realized that this must be a family with a lot of talent. Hilarious was in their genes. And by the time I was listening to Patrick, he was no spring chicken and he had already had quite a successful comedy career both as a writer and commentator. He even wrote for his brother at times. But, I loved listening to Patrick even before I knew of his rich comedy history.
Patrick was my Facebook friend, but I’m not sure if we’ve actually ever had a conversation. Still, I felt as if I’d lost a confidant w

Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I'll tell you what they don't want. They don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well informed, good educated people capable of critical thinking. They're not interested in that. That doesn't help them. That's against their interests. That's right. They don&
Comedian Dave Chappelle and his latest Netflix standup special, The Closer, are having what the amusement industry calls a water cooler moment.
This means A LOT of people are talking about it and equal amounts seem to either love it or him or are angry (Note: Or worse) about him and it.
This is especially good for Netflix, which shelled out $24.1 million for Mr. Chappelle’s latest – now what shall we call it – act, rant, therapy session?
Perhaps all three.
Well, whatever we desire to categorize it as one thing seems crystal clear. Despite public protests and inside objections from its employees, the once behemoth darling of streamers has no plans to pull it from circulation or curtail its cherish affair with the comic.
This is especially good for Mr. Chappelle, who may or may not continue his Netflix relationship but is seething about the potential of organism cancelled for, among other things, his comments about transgender people and the LGBTQ community in general.
Here’s an article that sums up the controversy far better than I could, or crave to:
I like to be part of the world and stay informed, so I feel obligated to investigate all water cooler

Hey guys. Quint here. When I was a youngster my mom hid only one VHS from me. It was a tape that had two movies recorded off of HBO: Cronenberg's The Fly and Aliens. I don't realize why that tape. I had pretty free reign to watch whatever I wanted. Case in direct, I used to receive in trouble at university reciting George Carlin bits to my friends. For some odd reason it was George Carlin and Bill Cosby that I'd do. And I'm no extrovert, no big general speaker. That was cute big shit for me to do, put myself out there. I just loved Carlin's material and I loved making people laugh using the material, be it neighborhood kids, relatives or at institution (where it was the big no-no). When I was 12 I moved to Texas. My first year in high institution I took Journalism 101 because I wanted to write for the newspaper later in high academy. It was around this time that George Carlin came through town, playing at the wonderful Paramount Theater. My stepdad and I got tickets to his show and I asked my Journalism mentor, Mrs. Lubke, if I could cover the concert for the newspaper (she also oversaw that). Hold in mind, this wasn't
Hi Kamau, I think I have met you before in Berkeley....anyway, I can really appreciate your outlook.
Bill Hicks was brilliant, yes like Lenny Bruce. The video with Bill Hicks was so telling about how people get mixed up about what art is really about. It has always been to transform. Even if it's a light transformation, appreciate a lullaby, it puts you to sleep dreamily....but when it comes to day to day actual world, we need the fact. But, that English gal in the audience was basically saying: "Just don't say the truth clearly." Which is what fucks us up the most. The never ending euphemistic perspective. The lie. Let's not clearly examine the problem - hence, John Lennon....and many others. Successfully, I am sure you know all of this anyway-- and I grew up in Mill Valley and I had met Dana Carvey and some other famous peeps, in my little home town - where it's too expensive for me to live anymore. HA!
I don't usually like when artists ride on superior of the shoulders of artists before them, unless it's a clear depiction of bringing someone support to life - love Hal Holbrook in Tag Twain Tonight.
But - others have tried and it is ICK. It's weird. I'm glad George Carlin's daughte
