Featuring a caftan-laden pool party, a club night of extravagant proportions and an outdoor afternoon festival featuring the finest in queer talent and music under the light and stars in the majestic backdrop of Mt. San Jacinto.

Sun’s out, tongues out! Whether you’re licking an ice cream cone or a close friend, May’s friendly weather is the only excuse you need to celebrate the coming summer by throwing caution to the spring breeze and chasing adventure. And there’s no better opportunity to set the tone for a fun frisky summer than a nice distant Memorial Day weekend. But where to seek out a little fun and sun? Here’s a limited suggestions for gay events over Memorial Day Weekend:

1. For Raunchy Fun

International Mr. Leather (IML) – Chicago

Are you ready for the iconic leather and obsession extravaganza? Since 1979, IML has been the ultimate destination for gear lovers and kink enthusiasts. Held annually in Chicago during the last weekend of May, this festival attracts a global crowd with its vibrant atmosphere, dynamic activities, and inclusive spirit.

- The renowned Mr. Leather Competition, where contestants compete for the prestigious title.
- A monumental marketplace filled with sexy gear and accessories.
- Workshops, social gatherings, and off-site parties you won’t want to miss.

And if you ask for a breather between festivities, take some time to explore Chicago’s historic B

Thar she blows! While we have no whales spouting rain, we have plenty of dust swirling in the wind. It seems appreciate every few days we are greeted with road closures due to blowing dust and sand. Commutes get longer, cars get dirtier.

Our friends at the Palm Springs Share dug deep into the sandy matter, and found that last year’s tropical storm Hillary is the primary culprit. The silt washed into the valley last August is finer and therefore stays airborne longer.

Good news is that the silt levels are returning to normal and we should watch fewer closures. But with the nice there’s the bad: Bob and the crew at Desert Hand Car Wash may not be quite as occupied as they’ve been this past eight months.

Hosted by Mal from Netflix's The Ultimatum: Queer Love, this warm-weather bash will feature local DJs, go-go dancers, sustenance trucks, a pup parade and more.

Queer Garden's summer series is kicking off on Sunday, May 26 at BK Backyard Bar with a Memorial Same-sex attracted Weekend Party. Hosted by Mal from Netflix's The Ultimatum: Queer Love, the warm-weather bash will take over the 25,000-square-foot outdoor venue for a festival-style, day-into-nighttime party, with a lineup of local DJs (like HIGHGNX, Whitney Night and DJ MK), go-go dancers, meal trucks, delicious drinks (including frozens!) and more. And seeing as how BK Backyard Bar is a pet-friendly venue, Queer Garden is hosting its first ever Pup March, so dress your favorite furry ally up and enable them strut their stuff and illustrate off their tricks!
