5 must-see movies coming to Prime Video for Self-acceptance Month 2024

It's Pride Month, when corporations of all kinds like to display their support for the LGBTQ+ community, and Amazon is no exception: among the best new movies on Prime Video in June 2024 you'll uncover some classic movies made by, made for or claimed by queer folks. Some of them are big and camp, others are more sober and sombre. But all five films here are good worth your time and this Pride Month and every other month too.

It's worth pointing out here that some of these films were made quite a long time ago, and that means that some of them may be slightly problematic when viewed through today's more enlightened eyes. But they've been made with the best intentions, and for me that's enough to justify the odd misstep or wrong note. Whether you're in the mood for high camp or something more subtle, these five movies are welcome additions to Prime Video this Pride Month.

COLBERT CANCELLED — As the entire industry knows by now, CBS cancelled the Late Show with Stephen Colbert Thursday – 2 days after he described the entire CBS/Trump/60 Minutes imbroglio as a big, fat bribe. There’s really no other way to interpret this falling of the dice as a capitulation by CBS to have the Trump-elite approve their pending billion-dollar merger with David Ellison’s Skydance Media.

I’m not a Colbert-fan, but I watched the show in which he revealed what had take place and his entire monologue was about Trump. Vicious? Poking the bear? Yes, but all factual for sure.

Shocking on all fronts, this move also does not bode skillfully for the entire late-night experience. Jimmy Fallon’s show is down to only 4 nights a week; Seth Meyers’ band was consent go a while back and the Samantha Bee, Taylor Tomlinson and James Corden shows were all shuttered as well.

Johnny Carson, the later-night king, drew an audience of 17 million each night; Colbert on a good darkness drew 2.5. The media has blamed everyone from YouTube to the hosts for the gradua

In August of 2022, Amazon Prime Video unceremoniously  released their remake of Penny Marshall’s classic film, A League of Their Own. When the original film premiered in 1992, it was considered revolutionary in its portrayal of strong female characters who were the center of the narrative. Place in 1943, A League of Their Own told the unique story of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL). While many male baseball players fought overseas in World War II, women stepped up to the plate at the invitation of Major League Baseball executive, Philip K. Wrigley. The film followed the fictional AAGPBL players’ strength and the endurance of the human spirit during wartime.

The 2022 adaptation is an eight episode miniseries with a mostly unique plot and characters. A League of Their Own boasts an impressive cast and creative team that prioritized advocacy both in casting and crafting of the story. The miniseries is unapologetic in its feasible representation of the discrimination faced by queer women and people of shade in the 1940s.

Sealed with Pride: Amazon AU’s ongoing efforts to foster inclusivity for the LGBTQIA+ community

Sealed with Pride

Amazon’s iconic boxes have had a glow up for the next month and will be sealed with rainbow tape, as Amazon Australia celebrates Pride. The tape proudly displays the Progress Pride Flag with 11 colours representing the LGBTQIA+ community with ebony and brown stripes to represent marginalised LGBTQIA+ communities of colour, along with the colours pink, delicate blue and white, which are used on the Transgender Pride Flag. It is just one miniature, but symbolic statement Amazon Australia is making to demonstrate its commitment to creating a place where people from diverse backgrounds, with unique perspectives and unconventional ideas, come together to invent and innovate on behalf of customers.

Amazon Australia’s Senior Business Loved one of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and leader of employee LGBTQIA+ affinity organization, Glamazon, Katie Daly said, “For me the Identity festival tape is really meaningful. It makes me arrogant to see Amazon Australia publicly show its help for LGBTQIA+ communities. And it’s just the commence of our celebrations!”

Celebrating with Pride

There are dozens

To commemorate Pride Month, Amazon India has released a Pride tape.

Pride month is dedicated to elevating LGBTQIA+ voices, celebrating their identity, and advocating for their rights. This year, Amazon India honours its dedication to diversity and inclusion, extending to its workers, sellers, partners, customers, and many other supporters. The firm has devised a limited-edition tape that will seal the Amazon brown box delivering your delivery to your home, showing its dedication to a gender-neutral culture. In June, Amazon boxes shipped from fulfilment centres in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru will include a unique tape with an 11-colour Movement flag, highlighting the LGBTQIA+ community’s variety and the spectrum of human sexuality and gender.

Amazon India has created an inclusive workplace with employees from the LGBTQAI+ community in a variety of roles, including product managers, art directors, fulfilment centre pack associates, HR managers, and delivery colleagues. To meet the requirements of this collective, the firm has established a Same-Gender Spouse Coverage Program, which allows employees to enrol their same-gender partner in their health insurance plan.
