This year we are hosting our first-ever season of the OutHere Contest: A LGBTQIA+ Screenplay Competition.
With a legacy of propelling over 100 writers into successful careers with industry giants love Sony, Blumhouse, Film4, and Hulu, we’re eager to discover writers of LGBTQIA+ stories that resonate with joy, community, and family.
We asked our Judges, Luke Oliveira-Davies, Bethany Black, Drew Hubbard, and Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor, to tell us about some of the TV series and Features that they feel exemplify the very best of LGBTQIA+ storytelling today. Their list was inspiring, including Dead Loch, Dead Hot, Down Low, and Fellow Travellers along with those below.
The more screenwriters who incorporate LGBTQ+ characters as usual, the more chance we’ve got of them getting better, and there creature more LGBTQ+ representation on the big and compact screen.

LGBT Sketch is a short play with four characters representing the colors of the rainbow. Each delivers a monologue about their experiences with intolerance of the LGBT community and how to create change one person at a time. Matchless for a high-school assembly or as part of an evening of monologues and scenes!
Corrina Bryant is a freelance writer living in London. She has written for radio, magazines, local and national press and media websites. Corrina has written plays for the Director’s Cut Theatre Business showcase at the Southwark Playhorama use in London, as well as written for professional actors executing at fringe theatres in the city. She is currently writing a novel for teenagers/young adults and is delighted to be writing for Drama Notebook. She wishes all the students and teachers every success in their labor and would love to hear from them.
